Her Broadway performance credits include the original cast of West Side Story, Grind, Don’t Bother Me I Can’t Cope, Purlie and Hallelujah Baby.
She has worked extensively with Opera Ebony as its director and choreograper, including its production of Porgy and Bess, which she also directed for Houston Grand Opera. Other choreography credits include Spunk, The Colored Museum, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, The Tempest on Broadway, Armistad at the Lyric Opera and The Odyssey at Theatre St.
Her choreography for the 1992 Broadway production of Jelly’s Last Jam earned her a Tony nomination, Dramalogue Award, a Joseph Calloway Award and an NAACP Image Award. Clarke also choreographed Caroline, or Change at the National Theatre in London. Hope Clarke most recently collaborated with the Goodman on The Dreams of Sarah Breedlove during the 2005/2006 Season.
